Anthony Scaramucci Out as White House Communications Director

The Straight Scoop: Anthony Scaramucci was fired on July 31st by newly hired White House Chief of Staff, retired General John Kelly. Scaramucci was initially hired as the White House Communications Director ten days earlier, replacing then White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, who also held that position. Former White House Chief of Staff Rhince Priebus resigned the day after Scaramucci was hired.

Former DNC Charirwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s IT Vendor Arrested

The Straight Scoop: Imran Awan, a Pakistani born IT Consultant who worked for several members of the House of Representatives since 2004, was arrested by the FBI on Tuesday, July 25th attempting to leave the country. Awan was taken in to custody at Dulles International Airport in Washington, DC on the charge of bank fraud. Court records show he fraudulently obtained a $165,000 home equity loan from the Congressional Federal Credit Union and then wired $283,000 to two people in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

Jared Kushner Releases Statement to Congressional Committees

He wrote "I did not collude, nor know of anyone else in the campaign who colluded, with any foreign government. I had no improper contacts."

Supreme Court Votes 9-0 to Allow Part of Trump’s Travel Ban to Proceed

The Straight Scoop: The Supreme Court has reversed the decision of lower courts, and the 4th and 9th circuit of appeals, and has voted to allow portions of the President's Executive Order to proceed. The Executive Order called for suspending entry to nationals from residents of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for 90 days to allow for a review of the current vetting system. The order will take effect 72 hours after the ruling.
